GE’s Whatman Polycap TF filters are made with durable, hydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes in a polypropylene housing for use with organic solvents and chemically aggressive solutions.
PTFE Membranes: PTFE membrane is hydrophobic and will not allow water (aqueous solutions) to pass without high pressure. This pressure is called the Water Breakthrough Value (WBT) Value, and changes with the pore size of the membrane. Aqueous solutions may be filtered if the membrane is initially "wetted" with alcohol or other appropriate solvents.
